Who is Jean Claude Garnier ?

Although he eventually became a pupil of Shri K. Pattabhi Jois, Jean Claude Garnier first began studing yoga at the age of 14½, working from a book by Indra Devi, the first American woman to study with Shri T. Krishnamacharya. He then worked with the companions of the Community of the Ark founded by Lanza del Vasto, the first Christian disciple of Mahatma Gandhi. On their advice, in 1968, he met Jean-Paul Boudon (Satyananda Bihar School and B.K.S. Iyengar). He spent some time in Southern India digging wells and planting crops. He met Vinobha, Gandhi's successor, at his ashram in Paunar, he met Swami Gitananda south of Pondicherry, and he stayed at the ashram of Shri Aurobindo where he met "The Mother".
